Our first week of Sports Camp concluded yesterday with a special guest speaker and Campfire nite.  Lars Tiffany, head coach of the UVA men’s lacrosse team spoke to the boys about the importance of developing a positive team culture on and off the field.  He talked about the struggles in his experience as head coach at UVA and the determination, teamwork, and work ethic of his players that won the NCAA title.  Campers took advantage of the opportunity to ask him questions and Coach Tiffany responded with very meaningful stories about his players and his team. We hope campers were impacted by his words as much as the camp leaders. Coach Blundin tied the talk into our nightly discussions surrounding team culture, and how the choices campers make off the field affect player performance during competition.  After games in the afternoon we headed to the river for Campfire night, a tradition of games, cheers, and skits. Coaches also announced Camper of the Week awards for those campers on their team who are working diligently to exemplify the values of our camp team culture. We have been blessed with cool weather. The first week of Sports Camp has been an amazing experience for the leadership, we hope it has been for our campers as well! For more pictures of Friday, June 21 click here
