Sports Camp is in full swing.  Campers are moving smoothly through the daily routine, making friends with their teammates, and engaging in spirited rivalries during competitive games.  The season records and game scores indicate teams are well matched and at game time, the victory goes to the team who fights until the last second. We’ve enjoyed some exciting games that have come down to one goal in the last seconds. Yestereday’s word was attitude.  Teams discussed how attitude can affect team culture and performance; one player’s good attitude can be a turning point in the game, but a bad attitude can negatively influence the final outcome. Counselors are awarding wristbands for campers who exemplify the following values at a camp:

This camper stayed competitive, focused and positive when he wasn’t performing well or when his team started to lose.  When others made excuses he kept trying to make plays.

This camper showed respect for his teammates and coach, he showed up on time. He listened to his coach.  He did the hard right even when it was not the popular choice.

This camper honored the game, the rules, the refs, his teammates, and opponents. He showed respect for people who helped him during the day.

If you see a picture of a camper and counselor with the camp behind them, the camper has received a band at the All Camp meeting.  Several counselors have also received bands from the directors for teaching, caring, and energetically leading their campers.
